Born on the 26th March, 2013 in Michigan. Larry Page’s father was a pioneer in computer science and his mother taught computer programming, therefore Page’s attraction to computers came at just aged six, where he used to play with components left lying around by his parents. He also liked inventing things, and became very interested in business, stating that he knew he was going to start a company eventually from the age of 12. Larry Page then attained a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and went on to focus on computer engineering at Stanford. This is where he became friends with Sergey Brin. However the pair did not start off well, arguing the whole time after Brin was Page’s guide in Stanford’s introduction.

Google actually started out as a research project at Stanford, where the pair produced a search engine that listed results in order of popularity, considering this also to be the most useful page. They then went about releasing this, naming it Google, based on the mathematical term (Googol) 1 and 100 zero’s, with the aim of organizing as much information online.

Before it’s official release, the project attained 10,000 searches per day very quickly, maxing out three of their credit cards, this is when the pair decided to officially raise finance and give google a go. The pair’s next challenge was to raise finance, and after raising $1million in 1998 from family, friends and other investors, the pair launched officially in the same year.

Until 2001, the company continued growing at an unbelievable rate which was when the pair hired Eric Schmidt as CEO, who had experience in various other executive positions, and was able to take the company to the next level. By 2004 the company was ready for an IPO giving Page a net worth of $12 billion making him the 27th richest man in the world. The running of the business is still shared by the pair along with Eric Schmidt and is now worth around $375 billion. Giving Larry Page a net worth of $23 billion. It proves that spotting the next big thing and going for it wholeheartedly can write a success story beyond belief.
